It nurtures a team spirit in you because you can very rarely ever do it all on your own

A team effort to achieve a collective purpose

Can't believe it's taken me this long to get back into playing basketball. Absolutely love playing again.

- Denise Brackard

No big egos, no show boating, just a load of mates, playing hoops. ACE!

- Darnell Withers

The basketball's great, but making friends and socialising has been even better.

- Fari Dashtgard

It's kinda nice to just turn up and play. No drills, no shouting, just basketball.

THE FIRST TEAM

These are the St Paul's Sonics, official basketball team. We play in the WEBBA league and have official matches with referees and uniforms - the whole shebang!

There is a monthly subscription of £20.00 to join the team - that includes the cost of all practice sessions and scrimmages, official matches, WEBBA and EBL membership.

THE REGULARS

These members pay a one off fee for block practice sessions - these are the players who want to practice regularly but can't commit to a full season in the first team. Players from the regulars can be selected into the first team to play official WEBBA matches and only have to pay a one off match fee.

THE RESERVE TEAM

PThe reserve team is for members who only come to the practice sessions on an ad hoc basis and cannot commit to regular games. They pay before they play as it were.

The reserve team members can become regular members at any time by simply registering for the next available block of practice sessions.

Some info About the Team

Its difficult these days to find a ready release for all the stresses of life - the gym is too isolated, jogging is boring and all those game sessions just don't quite get it out the system...

St Paul's Sonics offers the unique opportunity of increasing basic fitness, learning the game of basketball and socialising with a wide range of people from different backgrounds and works of life.

There is no getting round it we play hard!!

The joy of the game is in the competition and we push ourselves to be better players. The focus is on actual game play (not drills or coaching) so our improvement comes from learning from each other and taking tips to improve our game.

Games are quite fluid so everyone will get court time and in between play you get to chat and make friends with a wide variety of people from all sorts of different backgrounds.

All skill sets are welcome and if you are just learning the game of course we'll make go easy on you and help you along, but as soon as you get good, you're on your own!

There are various levels of membership depending on your level of interest click the sign up tab to join
